Columbia, NYC and Global Climate Change
Global climate change is here. To sustain the City we love, we must act now. Columbia University is joining with Mayor Bloomberg and the Sierra Club to commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to rising sea levels, huge storms, heat waves, and droughts. As part of the PlaNYC challenge, Columbia has pledged to decrease our greenhouse gas emissions by 30% in the next 10 years.

A Time to Act
The next 10 years may be critical to avoid catastrophic climate change. New York emits more metric tons of greenhouse gas than many entire nations. We have the ability to curb our emissions and set a global example for energy efficiency and renewable energy use. Each of us must act against global warming.

Now We Need Your Help
That’s why we’re launching Cool Columbia. Cool Columbia is a campaign to create a culture of conservation at the University. Our goal is to help people living and working here to reduce your carbon footprint.
